Lucerne Family Day

The Richard Wagner Museum is taking part in Lucerne Family Day. Whilst the adults immerse themselves in the composer’s world on a guided tour of the permanent exhibition, the little ones set off in search of the hidden ‘Rheingold’. In doing so, they will explore the house and rooms that are usually closed to the public. Wagner’s music invites them on an imaginative journey, during which the children can paint, play instruments and compose their own pieces.

Lecture: ‘The Wagner Shitstorm’

When Richard Wagner published his anti-Semitic treatise *Judaism in Music* in 1869, it triggered a media storm. Within a short space of time, some 150 articles appeared across Europe – an astronomical figure for the 19th century. Contemporaries spoke of a ‘storm’ of indignation the likes of which ‘no written work had experienced for many years’. This unprecedented debate is the subject of the lecture by Nicolai Rhyn, who has been an assistant on the SNSF project ‘The Contemporary Reception History of Richard Wagner’s ‹Judaism in Music›’ since 2024.

Free admission.

It comes from *Bernstein on Wagner*, a film in which the conductor analyses his relationship with Wagner at Sigmund Freud’s home.
