Excursion tips

If you are interested in taking the 30-minute walk from the city of Lucerne to the museum, follow the scenic lakeshore path. The Richard Wagner Museum is surrounded by an extensive park situated directly on the lakeside, with many benches for you to relax and take a rest while enjoying the magnificent view of the Alps. The Tribschen lido is open from May to September. One of Lucerne's most scenic children's playgrounds is located right on the lakeshore near the museum.

The "Tribschen" boat landing is very close to the museum. Between April and September, the "Rütli" boat will take you to the railway station in Lucerne or to Meggenhorn. The stately Meggenhorn Castle is well worth a visit.

Richard Wagner was an avid alpinist and especially loved hiking in the mountains close to Lucerne: the Rigi and Pilatus. He undertook numerous hikes in the surrounding area during his stay in Lucerne. Seeking inspiration for his works was a primary motivation.
